Use this procedure if an upgrade to 10.3 fails or if critical problems prevent the upgraded system from returning to production.
You must have a backup or virtual-machine snapshot created before the upgrade. To roll back Print Server, you must also have a copy of the Jobs folder.
Rollback restores the system to its state before the upgrade. It is not an in-place downgrade: do not run a 10.2 installer over a 10.3 installation or attempt to use a database that has already been migrated to 10.3.
Before you Begin
Make sure that you have:
-
The pre-upgrade database and settings backup
-
If your deployment uses MS SQL, a backup of the MS SQL database, or snapshot of the VM where it runs.
-
The installer for the exact MyQ X 10.2 patch that was installed before the upgrade.
-
A copy of the Print Server Jobs folder, if applicable.
-
Local Administrator access to the system where MyQ X is installed.
-
(Recommended) A VM snapshot or checkpoint created from your MyQ Server VM before the upgrade.
Central-Site Considerations
If you are rolling back a Central Server, first roll back all Site Servers. If only one site needs to be rolled back, other sites and the central server can remain on 10.3.
Option 1: Restore a Virtual-Machine (VM) Snapshot
Use this method when a snapshot was created immediately before the upgrade.
-
Shut down the MyQ server VM.
-
Restore the pre-upgrade snapshot. If you use MS SQL, restore your database or the VM where it runs.
-
Start the VM where your MyQ Server runs.
-
Open Easy Config and verify that:
-
Verify that all required services are running.
-
The Main Database and Log Database statuses are OK.
-
The expected MyQ X 10.2 version is displayed on the About tab.
-
-
Continue with Verify the Rollback.
Option 2: Reinstall MyQ X 10.2 and Restore the Backup
Use this method when a VM snapshot is not available.
-
Stop all MyQ services.
-
Uninstall MyQ X 10.3 and restart the system.
-
Manually delete any remaining files in
C:\ProgramData\MyQandC:\Program Files\MyQand restart the system again. -
Install the exact MyQ X 10.2 patch that was installed before the upgrade.
Use the same installation path, application-data path, and drive letters as the original installation. -
Go to Easy Config > Database and restore the backup created before the upgrade.
-
(MS SQL) Restore the database backups (main and log database) on the MS SQL server.
-
(Print Server) Restore the backed-up contents of the Jobs folder to its original location.
-
Start all MyQ services.
Verify the Rollback
After restoring the system:
-
Open Easy Config and verify that all required services are running.
-
Verify that the Main Database and Log Database statuses are OK.
-
Confirm that the expected MyQ X 10.2 version is displayed.
-
In the MyQ Web Interface, go to MyQ > Log and check for errors.
-
Verify:
-
Licenses
-
User synchronization
-
Scheduled tasks
-
Central-Site connection and replication, if used
-
Printer and terminal connectivity
-
-
Submit and release a test print job.
-
Perform a test scan, if scanning is used.
If the rollback cannot be completed successfully, stop further recovery attempts and contact MyQ Support. Provide the installer logs, MyQ support data, the source and target versions, and details of the backup or snapshot used.
