Synchronize Users
It’s time to get your users into MyQ X to start benefiting from our MyQ application family, allowing them to access print resources effortlessly.
You can create user accounts manually or import them from a synchronization source to maintain the company's organizational structure. On top of that, the administrator can also grant rights, set specific rules and policies, set authentication methods, and secure the MyQ users' data.
Supported Synchronization Sources
MyQ allows for the automatic import of user groups, users, and user details from various external sources:
Service / Directory | Synchronization source type |
---|---|
Active Directory | LDAP |
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) Synchronized over Microsoft Graph API. Does not require Azure Domain Services purchased for your subscription. | Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) |
OpenLDAP | LDAP |
Novell | LDAP |
Google Workspaces | LDAP |
Lotus Domino | LDAP |

Configure Group and User Synchronization
In the sections below, you will learn about different scenarios and the specifics of each service/directory. It is recommended to read through these guides before creating synchronization sources in MyQ.
Schedule User Synchronization
User Synchronization is one of the tasks available in MyQ that you can schedule to run periodically. This is important for keeping the groups and users in MyQ up to date. When you add new users to your Active Directory or Entra ID, you will want to import these users into MyQ as quickly as possible.
See Manual and scheduled synchronization run.
Group-Based User Management
During synchronization, you will most likely also synchronize user groups to be used for the configuration of access control, accounting (quotas, credit, projects, and cost centers), and other parts of the MyQ environment.
You can read more in Group-based User Management.
Synchronization from Multiple Sources
Multiple synchronization sources of the same type and directory can exist. This is commonly used when synchronizing users from, for example, multiple local Windows domains.
These sources can also be combined, meaning that you can synchronize user groups and users from multiple services or directories into one MyQ installation.
Users with the same usernames must not exist in two or more synchronization sources. Users with similar usernames would overwrite each other without additional configuration during synchronization.
To prevent clashing usernames, see how to enable multi-domain and multi-tenancy support.
